Three of the 10 largest public REIT and REOC M&A deals ever were announced within a three-month timeframe in summer 2004. Add in The Mills Corporation's (NYSE: MLS) approximately $1.033 billion purchase of a 50 percent managing member interest in nine regional mall properties from General Motors Asset Management Corp., and you have a total deal value of approximately $22.23 billion for four transactions from June through August.
